The Victoire District, in Bordeaux

Just steps from our bed and breakfast in Bordeaux, the Victoire district is one of the liveliest in the city centre. Between its large student square, its café terraces and the famous Marché des Capucins, it sets the tone for a stay in Bordeaux that is both lively and authentic.

Place de la Victoire

The Victoire square is the student quarter of Bordeaux, home to the Faculty of Medicine. Surrounded by countless bars and cafés, it is a genuinely lively place that often hosts performances, concerts and all sorts of events, drawing Bordeaux residents young and old.

In 2005, as part of the redesign of the square, two works by the Czech sculptor Ivan Theimer were installed: an obelisk and two giant cast-iron turtles, dedicated to the glory of the vine and of wine.

The Marché des Capucins

If you enjoy the bustling atmosphere of markets, don't miss the Marché des Capucins, a 5-minute walk from the guesthouse and the largest covered market in Bordeaux. There you can do your shopping or savour a platter of oysters from the Arcachon Bay, a plate of Spanish tapas, charcuterie or cheese, paired with a Bordeaux or an Entre-deux-mers.

And all around the market, a great many restaurants will welcome you to discover local flavours or take you travelling around the world.

Getting around

To get around Bordeaux, the bus stop (Victoire–Aristide Briand) and the tram stop (Place de la Victoire) are just 50 metres from the guesthouse and let you quickly reach the must-see places in the city centre.
